Positive: Fantastic location with everything we need in walking distance, surprisingly huge apartment with large bedrooms, good facilities, lovely view over town towards hills from one of the bedrooms. Super clean, and nice bowl of fruit and bottle of water left by just. The bird of paradise flowers on the dining table were a lovely touch. It looked much better than the photos, and was full of character and a true home from home. The two bedrooms were at either end of the apartment, a Although the balcony only overlooked the cobbled road, it was a nice spot for a coffee or night cap. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. Only a two minute walk to shopping centre with good size supermarket, and various cafes and restaurants within 5 minutes level (for Funchal) walk (we particularly liked the poke bowls at Umani Don). Short stroll to waterfront and boat trips. Small but perfectly formed municipal park also within 5 minutes’ walk. The start of the cable car is about a 20-25 minute walk across the centre or along the seafront.

Negative: Only minor points for others to consider: There was only one set of keys, which meant that we had to plan who should have them when we did different things. Although there were plug in fans in both bedrooms, the lack of air conditioning could make it very warm in summer (not a problem in late October). Beds were a bit firmer than we are used to, but we understand this is typical. It is not accessible for those with mobility issues as it is up 2 stories (high ceilings) - although it’s central location did mean you don’t need to clamber up a big hill before going up the stairs!
